sophie coryndon
Over the last ten years Sophie's portraits and prints of flowers have developed in a scale and intensity that sets them apart from other artists working in this genre. Since 2007 there has been a change of emphasis, presenting the central motif within a context rather than in isolation. This gradual evolution in Sophie's work has led to a shift in subject matter, in paintings such as 'Tent' and 'Paradise Park'.
Sophie's new work retains the strength and physical presence of the early paintings whilst moving towards metaphor and allusion, revealing the mythic potential in everyday objects. This promises exciting new possibilities for the future.
